Welcome to the artistic world of Naoko, a visionary creator with roots tracing back to Okayama, Japan.

Her childhood in Amakusa, Kumamoto, Japan, laid the foundation for a journey that would eventually lead her to the vibrant city of San Francisco, CA, in 1992.

In 2020, Naoko embarked on a meaningful venture by establishing NAObyNaoko, a self-run shop showcasing her exquisite handmade goods. Commencing with the noble intention of crafting masks for frontline medical workers, Naoko's creations garnered attention from friends and family who sought personalized masks of their own.

Imbued with a passion for 和柄 Japanese patterns, Naoko seamlessly incorporated these designs into her products. Beyond the aesthetic appeal, she takes pride in elucidating the rich history and significance underlying each pattern. The inaugural year of NAObyNaoko witnessed its recognition by Condé Nast Traveler magazine, a testament to the distinctive quality of her offerings.

Situated in the enchanting locale of San Luis Obispo, NAObyNaoko showcases an array of products crafted from authentic Japanese textiles, carefully sourced from kimonos and obi sashes. Naoko's journey also reflects a deep admiration for taiko players, a fascination that transformed into active participation in 2003.

The synergy of Naoko's love for playing taiko and her artistic flair catalyzed the expansion of her product line. Noteworthy among her achievements is the upcoming collaboration with カドンkaDON, marking a significant milestone in 2024 with the introduction of katsugioke taiko straps.
